DIBRUGARH, May 17: Incessant rains since Monday night caused severe water logging problems in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh town on Tuesday.
Several big trees along the roads were also uprooted due to the loosening of soil owing to steady rainfall since the last one week.

The incessant downpour has caused severe waterlogging in all the 22 wards of the town inundating roads, shops and residential houses.
The flash flood affected all major residential areas like Milan Nagar, Jibon Phukan Nagar, Ashit Nagar, KP Road, Bordoloi Avenue, Lachit Nagar, Chowkidinghee, Khaniagaon, Gangapara, Seujpur, Amolapatty, Padum Nagar, Naliapool, Santipara, Durgabari, Bishnu Nagar, Guardpara, Khalihamari and Graham Bazar with rain water entering several households.
Even the office of the Dibrugarh Municipal Board was hit by the flash flood.
The busy Mancotta road was also badly affected by the flash flood in several stretches. The 300-metre stretch of road just before the Thana Chariali flyover from the Chowkidinghee side resembled a rivulet with the water level reaching up to knee-height.
Several major arterial roads including the RKB road, KC Gogoi road and Convoy Road also remained submerged in several stretches resulting in severe traffic snarls with vehicular movement slowing down to a crawl.
Movement of vehicles on the NH-37 at Seujpur Tiniali which is the town’s entry and exit point was also affected with water flowing above the busy highway.
The heavy downpour also inundated the SP office, Dibrugarh police reserve, the railway workshop and the campus of the All India Radio, Dibrugarh located at Boiragimoth.
Meanwhile the Brahmaputra was flowing at 104.67 metre in Dibrugarh against the danger level of 105.70 metre. In the last 24 hours, Dibrugarh received a total of 47.80mm of rainfall as per data received from the water resources department.
