GUWAHATI, Dec 26: In a continued effort to combat trans-border crimes and smuggling, Border Security Force (BSF) troops, under the Guwahati Frontier, successfully thwarted another smuggling bid along the Indo-Bangladesh international border. Acting on reliable intelligence, Bordermen from the 31st Battalion BSF, in collaboration with the Forest Department team from Dhubri division, initiated a special joint operation in the bordering village of Paschim Maisha in Dhubri on Monday.

During the thorough search operation, the joint team successfully apprehended an Indian smuggler and confiscated an endangered species Gecko valued at Rs 10,00,000 from his possession near the Indo-Bangladesh International Border.

The apprehended smuggler, along with the seized items, is being handed over to the nearest police station for further legal proceedings. Given the susceptibility of the India-Bangladesh international border and the escalating activities of smugglers and anti-national elements, BSF troops are consistently intensifying efforts to ensure the safety and security of the border, making it impervious to criminal activities.
