KOHIMA, May 23 (NNN): The Nagaland Government is gearing up to take measures on monsoon related issues in the state.
Nagaland often experiences flood and landslide problems during monsoon.
In this regard, a monsoon preparedness review meeting was held under the chairmanship of chief minister of Nagaland and chairman NSDMA, Neiphiu Rio at the chief minister’s residential complex in Kohima on Monday. The meeting was attended by a host of cabinet ministers, advisors, senior Government officials and officials from the departments.
The chief minister, while briefing the officials present, asked the concerned departments involved in monsoon related works to be prepared with necessary machinery and other essential commodities for any eventuality. He urged all the line departments to give extra efforts and do their job effectively so as to avert and mitigate the impact of monsoon fury.
He also interacted with the deputy commissioners through video conferencing and took stock of the present situation in the districts. Meanwhile, the deputy commissioners also shared about the monsoon preparedness and the status of food and other essential commodities in the districts.
During the meeting, departments of NSDMA, PWD(R&B), Urban Development and Agriculture presented power-point presentations.
