DEMOW, Jan 18: In a heartening start to the New Year 2024, Meenakshi Chetia, a resident of Rupahibam near Demow, serving as an ASHA worker under Bhimpuwa Health and Wealth Centre (HWC) in Nabil area, has been selected for the prestigious Assam Gaurav Award. The Bhimpuwa Health and Wealth Centre operates under Demow Block Primary Health Centre, adding to the pride of Thowra constituency.
Upon receiving the news of her achievement, Meenakshi Chetia expressed her gratitude to the chief minister. Having dedicatedly served as an ASHA worker since 2008 in Nabil near Demow, Chetia highlighted the challenges faced by ASHA workers, citing the low remuneration that makes it difficult for them to meet daily expenses.
Chetia, who works tirelessly despite obstacles, is not only proud of her accomplishment but also highlighted the need for increased remuneration and a structured timeframe for ASHA workers.
Local residents and health workers came together to felicitate Meenakshi Chetia for her outstanding achievement. She took the opportunity to appeal to the chief minister and state health minister for the improvement of remuneration for ASHA workers and the establishment of a defined work schedule for them.
