GUWAHATI, Jan 18: Governor Gulab Chand Kataria interacted with a group of 95 students from higher education institutions of Assam and Maharashtra under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative. The interaction took place during a programme held at Raj Bhavan as part of the Yuva Sangam programme under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
Addressing the students, the Governor highlighted their role as representatives of divine energy and bridges of goodwill between states. He highlighted the importance of student exchange programs in fostering a deeper understanding of different cultures, customs, traditions, and languages. The Yuva Sangam Program, according to the Governor, provides an opportunity for mutual exchange of knowledge beyond textbooks.

Governor Kataria underscored the significance of youth participation in the socio-economic and cultural progress of the nation. He expressed the view that harnessing the youth power of the country is crucial for its proper management. Referring to the students as the future of the nation, he stated the need to provide them with the right direction, encouraging them to dream and discover.
The Governor also highlighted the paramount importance of teachers in guiding and leading the youth towards progress and prosperity. He urged teachers to instill values of ‘service to humanity’ among students, guiding them to contribute to society and the nation.
During the interaction, Governor Kataria spoke about the contributions of Vaishnavite Saints Sankardeva and Madhavdeva, Veer Lachit Borphukan, Shivaji, and Maharana Pratap to the growth and progress of the state and the nation. He encouraged students to draw inspiration from the rich heritage and brave leaders of the country.
The students were accompanied by dean of Students’ Affairs Prof Perumal Alagarsamy, dean PRBR, IIT-G Dr Parameshwar Krishnan Iyer, and their coordinators. The Yuva Sangam Programme, conceptualised by the Ministry of Education, aims to strengthen people-to-people connections and build empathy among youth across the nation through exposure tours for students in higher educational institutions.
