GUWAHATI, Jan 20: The eight edition of the ‘Northeast International Fashion Week (NEIFW), 2024’ will take place on January 27 in Guwahati.
The two-day event, which will take place in the premises of the South Point School at Barshapara in the city, will conclude on January 28. Several notable as well as aspiring fashion designers from the Northeast, different parts of the country and abroad will be participating in the event. The organizers aim to create awareness on importance of animal shelters and the need to adopt animals during the eight edition of the fashion extravaganza.
The opening theme of NEIFW is “Fashion for all”, meaning that the fashion show is an amazing platform not just for designers who wish to showcase their creations, but also for kids, teens and ladies who are interested in fashion and its latest trends. Fashion enthusiasts will be coming from different parts of the country to attend the show.
The fashion event is being powered and hosted by the team of Kreative People led by noted designer Prasantt Ghosh, one of the leading fashion designers and fashion choreographers in the Northeast. Since 2015, Prasantt Ghosh and his team have been working rigorously on creating the biggest platform for the future of fashion and integrating the Northeast’s rich handloom crafts internationally
NEIFW this year, would be more enthralling as Prasantt Ghosh, who has revived the legacy of the rich handloom crafts of Northeast globally, is preparing to spread social awareness in a new way through fashion. He has worked in shows all over India and countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Nepal and so on. He has also been awarded the Best Fashion Choreographer of Northeast – 2011, Lifetime achievement award in 2018 and the Northeast Leadership Award in 2015 for his excellent service in the field of fashion, textiles and craftsmanship.
“NEIFW is not just another fashion event, but an event with a social cause. We had earlier created awareness on socially important issues like old-age homes, eye and organ donation, aforestation and conservation of the environment through this show. We also provide shelter and protect the animals in collaboration with PETA and many more animal welfare organisations. The eight season is there to create awareness for animal shelter and adopt animals,” said Prasantt Ghosh.
The organizers of the fashion show also said that it is also an amazing platform for collaboration with neighbouring countries and people from different cultures. The event is a great platform for the young talents to showcase their talent and win interest worldwide.
NEIFW also aspires to create brand awareness among the public and media associated with the fashion industry of the Northeast. Budding as well as established entrepreneurs will also be showcasing different fashion accessories in stalls during the event.
“NEIFW always targets the domestic and international buyers and promotes Northeast handloom and handicrafts. NEIFW also has an impressive line-up of designers and models from Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. It is a landmark event in the sense that the Northeast is now going to be the latest fashion destination for all designers of the neighbouring regions,” said an organizer.
