DIPHU, Feb 28: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) observed the 76th death anniversary of Semson Sing Sing Ingti, the esteemed founder of the erstwhile Mikir Hills District, now Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts, at the Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park in Diphu.

The commemorative program commenced with the ceremonial garlanding of statues dedicated to Semson Sing Ingti at both the old and new memorial parks, led by KAAC chairman Raju Tisso.
The event witnessed the esteemed presence of MLA Darsing Ronghang, executive members of KAAC, and various officials. An interfaith prayer session was conducted as part of the solemn occasion, followed by a drawing competition for students from local schools.
Furthermore, the 76th death anniversary of Semson Sing Ingti was also observed at Bakalia, organised by the Bakalia Municipal Board. The ceremony, graced by the presence of Nakul Sing Ingti and his wife Rika Mandal, the son and daughter-in-law of the late leader, witnessed a poignant homage paid to the visionary founder.
The couple was honored with traditional Karbi turbans as a mark of respect.
Floral tributes adorned the statue of Semson Sing Ingti, accompanied by the illumination of earthen lamps, symbolising the enduring legacy of the revered leader.
The event saw the participation of esteemed dignitaries including Kamsing Hanse, president of Karbi Lammet Amei, and Hemsing Teron, Chairman of the Bakalia Municipal Board, among others.
