IMPHAL, Feb 28: The Congress in Manipur has proposed dedication of at least one day of the assembly session on discussion of the ongoing crisis in the state.
The Manipur assembly session began on Wednesday. The session will have only five sittings.
“There should be a one day special session to discuss the ongoing violence in the state without having any other agenda. Then we can thoroughly discuss the present violence,” Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president, K Meghachandra said on Tuesday.

Addressing the media at the Congress Bhavan in Imphal on Tuesday evening, Meghachandra said that since the assembly would have only five sittings, not much time will be available to discuss the violence that has been plaguing the state for over nine months.
He said that the entire session would be dominated by government’s agendas as being the first session of the year. There would be an address of the Governor besides government tabling the budget.
The government will also introduce some bills during the session.
However, Congress MLAs are ready to raise questions related to the ongoing violence whenever there is an opportunity.
He said that the Congress members will take the advantage of question hours, short duration discussions etc.
There were meetings of the Congress Legislator Party (CLP) where the strategies to raise the burning issues were discussed.
The MPCC president further urged the government to arrange a live telecast of the session. He said that even though some of the proceedings were telecast in the previous session, it was not done in the last session.
“The session is very important so far as the present violence is concerned. So, let the people understand what is going on in the Assembly session,” he said.
MPCC vice presidents, Tilotama Loitongbam, Hareshwar Goswami and Vidyabati Senjam and other office bearers of MPCC were also present on the occasion. (NNN)
