Mahamaya Congress Candidate HT Bureau
Dokmoka, June 3: The vice president of Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee (KADCC) and party candidate from Mahamaya Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency, Bidyasing Rongpi is all out to give a tough battle against the ruling BJP candidate Lunsing Teron in the upcoming Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) election scheduled for June 8.
Rongpi blamed the BJP-ruled KAAC for giving no importance to pity contractors, which is one of the reasons why there is no money circulation among the general public.
Rongpi is a two time MAC and executive member (EM) of KAAC during the previous Congress regime. He is contesting for the fourth consecutive time from the same constituency.
“In these five years, the BJP-ruled KAAC has deprived the people of Mahamaya of various Government welfare schemes. Whatever the people have, be it IAY houses, roads, community hall, medical and education facilities, old age and widow pensions and many more were given by me, when I was an EM,” he claimed.
He also said that BJP is going to lose in several seats due to the anti-incumbency factor. The Congress on coming to power at KAAC, foremost will be to develop education, agriculture and health sectors and provide potable water. Also, Congress will work for the implementation of Article 244(A) of the Constitution for the creation of an Autonomous State comprising the three hills districts of Assam.
About his position in the election, he said, “People of Mahamaya have seen the development work I have done in the previous ten years and in every area, I attended an election meeting there was a huge turnout. Winning is certain.”
Rongpi expressed confidence that Congress is going to win 14 to 15 seats.
In the Mahamaya, APHLC’s Rubising Ronghang and ASDC’s Babusing Ronghang are also in the fray.
