Assam: Candidates Trying To Woo Electorate With Promises

Himanta attends poll rallies, exudes confidence of BJP retaining KAAC

DIPHU, June 3: Continuing his campaign trail, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday attended poll rallies for BJP candidate Sharaban Telenga for Deopani Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Constituency.

Speaking at a public meeting at Santipur HS School playground, he said that the BJP is going to win this seat and if the BJP secured absolute majority in the KAAC polls more development will come in along with welfare schemes.

The meeting was also attended by candidate Telenga, minister Pijush Hazarika, chief executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang and deputy speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, Dr. Numal Momin.

Incumbent MAC and BJP candidate for Socheng Dhenta MAC constituency Kache Rongpipi held election meetings at different places on Friday.

She held an election meeting at the residence of Mohendro Killing, Rongtara village, where she told the voters that out of 28 houses 10 houses have LPG connections through Govt. subsidised scheme and 13 families have PMGAY houses, job cards for every household, the road from Bibiapai to Rongtara, financial support to BPL families under Orunodoi scheme by state Government and electricity connection.

As the village was not motorable and ahead of the election, a road was constructed from Bibiapai to Lokhimon Mandir, Rongtara.

As demanded by villagers the BJP candidate Rongpipi said if voted back to power she would construct a boundary wall for Lokhimon Mandir, community hall and water supply through Jal Jeevan Mission. She also assured to complete the road construction from Bibiapai to Rongtara.

She also said the CM has promised the voters to construct an RCC bridge across Deopani River to connect Kat Teron and Bibiapai, Rongtara and Bibia Kro villages. A connecting road has been constructed from Rongagora to Rongmongve and Bibia Kro to Jogodamba Tea Estate.

Urging to voters to support the BJP, Rongpipi said, “With the blessings of party high command I am again given the party ticket, now it is your concern to support and elect me to be in the ruling party so that I can continue serving the people of Socheng Dhenta.”

Later in the evening, Rongpipi attended another election meeting held at Rongagora and Mendu Bey.

There are five candidates in the fray in Socheng Dhenta constituency. They are Kache Rongpipi (BJP), Rajen Tokbi (Congress), Dijendro Terang (ASDC), Mensing Phangcho (APHLC) and Mohen Bey (independent).

Meanwhile, the BJP 22 Sarupathar Mandal Committee said the outgoing BJP’s MAC Jagat Engti has been expelled from the BJP for anti-party activities.

In a press conference called in the office of the Mandal BJP at Balipathar, president of the Sarupathar Mandal Committee of the BJP, Lakhiram Rongpi said, “The ex executive member of KAAC, Jagat Sing Engti has asked for the party ticket but has not got it and now he is with Simeon Rongphar (independent) so he has been expelled from the BJP.”
