Guwahati, April 11: The body of Saurabh Kumar, a first-year B.Tech CSE student at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G), was tragically found under mysterious circumstances.
His Bihar-based family has expressed concerns of foul play in relation to his death. Initially considered a suicide by the institute’s authorities, a subsequent inspection of Saurabh’s hostel room at the Dihing Hostel within the IIT Guwahati campus revealed disorder, suggesting a potential physical dispute prior to his death.
The family has questioned the official account, suggesting Saurabh may have been engaged in a conflict, potentially with a senior student or another person.
They also accused the institute’s administration and the city police of allegedly dismissing their concerns and failing to address the raised allegations.
Despite the presence of ligature marks on Saurabh’s neck hinting at a possible suicide, the family’s insistence on a deeper investigation highlights the importance of a comprehensive examination into the events leading to his premature death.
