District Road Safety Committee reviews measures to enhance road safety in Dima Hasao

GUWAHATI, June 27: District commissioner, Dima Hasao, and chairman of District Road Safety Committee (DRSC), Simanta Kr Das, ACS, in the presence of superintendent of police, Dima Hasao, Mayank Kumar, IPS, held a road safety meeting with all the DRSC members at the District Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Haflong, on Wednesday.

The agenda reviewed in the meeting included actions taken by Dima Hasao Police on accident data and details of the scheme related to cashless treatment for road accident victims, actions taken by the transport department, NHAI, and PWD regarding the installation of reflectors, banners, painting of speed breakers, and permanent reflectors on the Lanka-Umrangso road stretch, and installation of road safety signboards at various locations in the district.

In the meeting, the district commissioner directed the DRSC members to continue their drive against the illegal sale of liquor at roadside dhabas and hotels. All the members were also directed to continue their efforts against road accidents through awareness programs, naka checking, and awareness campaigns on social media.

The meeting was also attended by ADC James Aind, ACS, DTO, Dima Hasao, Sr. Dr Parikshit Barman Thaosen of Haflong Civil Hospital, officials from NHAI, and several other heads of departments.
