He also directed that syringes should not be sold without a proper prescription.

Saha, who is also the health minister of the state, recently chaired a review meeting on HIV/AIDS.

Regarding this matter, Saha clarified that a previous report incorrectly stated that 46 patients died due to HIV/AIDS. However, this data is cumulative from 2007 to 2024.

“So, I chaired a meeting. The number of HIV/AIDS cases in Tripura is much lower than in many other states. Awareness is necessary, and we must identify the source. Injectable syringes are being used, so I have directed that pharmacies cannot sell syringes without a prescription. Additionally, boys and girls aged 16 to 25 years from schools and colleges are affected. This age group is vulnerable. Teachers and guardians must take steps and initiatives,” said Dr. Saha.
