During the meeting, the senior Assam police official reviewed the recent planting of bomb-like substances at various locations across the state by ULFA (I). He identified possible shortcomings and negligence within the district police administration and other security forces, sources added.

It is pertinent to mention that, along with other places in the state, bomb-like substances were recovered from two spots in the district on August 15, shortly after being reported to the state’s media houses via email by the banned militant group.

While briefing local media after the review meeting, ADGP Harmeet Singh stated that the police investigation into the entire episode is ongoing. He assured that Assam Police would not allow anyone to create law and order situations in the state.

“No one who seeks peace and development in the state wants any untoward situation,” ADGP Singh said, adding that the police will act to maintain peace and tranquillity and will take adequate measures for the safety of public life and property in the state.
