HAFLONG, July 4: Three youths – Letlholien Lhouvum, Arnit Langthasa and Arian Diphusa of Dima Hasao district succumbed to a pitiable road accident on Monday in a place near Maibang town. Another identified as Stephen Haolai received multiple injuries due to the road mishap.
The shocking incident took place in an area that falls under Maibang police station of the hill district. A source of the Maibang police station said that two bikes collided head to head leading to the death of three youths and leaving another severely injured.

The source further said that Letlholien Lhouvum and Stephen Haolai hailed from Sonpijang village of Halflong. They were coming from Guwahati with their two-wheeler and collided head to head with another two-wheeler driven by Arnit Langthasa and Arian Diphusa. Langthasa and Diphusa reportedly hailed from Maibang town.
Meanwhile, Stephen Haolai, who was severely injured, was brought to Haflong Civil Hospital and is undergoing treatment.
It is pertinent to mention here that the number of accidents are rising in the highway from Haflong to Lumding section. A section of people in Dima Hasao have said that the accidents are rising as there is no proper signage in various parts of the diversion where the maintenance and construction works are going on.
