School Children In Tawang Use Treated Toilet Water For Kitchen Garden

Guwahati, July 5: The Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district deputy commissioner Kesang Ngurup Damo accompanied by additional deputy commissioner, Lunga, Tashi Dhondrup, SSB commandant, Lungla Raj Kumar and others on Tuesday visited the Jhamtse Gatsal School located at the district’s Lungla area and expressed pleasure over the children’s innovative approach on using treated toilet water for kitchen garden.

During the administration’s official visit, the Jhamtse Gatsal School director Lobsang Phuntso showed the water treatment plant, hostel accommodation of the children, mud house and plastic recycle plant established in the school campus. The school director as well as the children demonstrated to the visiting officers the grey and black water from kitchen, bathroom and toilet being used for kitchen garden and flowers after treatment.

Notably, the children as well as the faculty members of the school have been imparted training on plastic segregation; its reuse and re-cycles through their mini plant. The finished products of recycled plastic were also shown during the visit.

Following the demonstration, the deputy commissioner and his team while interacting with the children congratulated them for being part of the institute, and expressed their expectation from them for being future good citizens of the country. The deputy commissioner assured his further cooperation and support for the institution.

The director of the Jhamtse Gatsal School expressed their gratitude to the deputy commissioner and other officers from Indian army and para military forces for visiting the institute and showering blessings to the children.

During the visit, director Lobsang Phuntsok, other faculty members and children gave a warm reception to the visiting team.
