Satgaon Parish beat Chokihola Parish 3-0, emerge champion

Dongkamukam, Sept 16: In the final match of the Inter Parish Football Tournament, Satgaon Parish defeated Chokihola Parish 3-0. Hosted at the Sojong Don Bosco Higher Secondary field in Dongkamukam, West Karbi Anglong, and organised by the Inter Parish Football Federation Diphu Diocese (IPFFDD) in memory of the first Bishop of Diphu Diocese, Lt. Bishop Mathai, the game saw both teams initially fail to score despite several opportunities.
Before halftime, Satgaon Parish took the lead when Jack Marak’s clean pass into the box was converted by Avik Sangma. Shortly after, Reverend Sangma scored again, making it 2-0. In the second half, within 4 minutes of play, Reverend Sangma scored from outside the box to secure a 3-0 final score.
On the concluding day, Fr. John Timung, Vicar General of Diphu Diocese, attended as the chief guest and awarded the champions a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 50,000, sponsored by Dr. Cliff Pator’s family. The runners-up received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 30,000, awarded by Rensing Timung, Assam Mala project manager. The Golden Glove went to Binong Kro of Chokihola Parish, the Golden Boot was awarded to Reverend Sangma of Satgaon Parish, and the Best Player award went to Avik Sangma of Satgaon Parish.
