Assam Forest team shines with 2 bronze medals on AIFSM 2024 Day 1

GUWAHATI, Oct 17: The Assam Forest Department announced the achievements of its athletes at the All India Forest Sports Meet (AIFSM) 2024, scheduled from 16th to 20th October in Chattisgarh, a press release said on Thursday.

On Day 1 of the event, two members of Team Assam Forest showcased remarkable talent and dedication in weightlifting, bringing home bronze medals.

Urmila Buragohain, a Forest Guard from the Kamrup West Division, earned a bronze medal in the 45-49 kg weight category.

Her impressive performance not only highlighted her strength but also showcased the dedication of Assam’s forest personnel to excel in sports.

The Assam Forest Department took to the micro-blogging site X to congratulate the medal winners, expressing pride in their accomplishments.

The post read, “Medal winners from Team Assam Forest at #AIFSM 2024 on Day 1 : Urmila Buragohain, Fgd, Kamrup West Division – Bronze in Weightlifting 45-49 kg”

Meanwhile, Madhumita Gogoi, a Constable from the 3rd Assam Forest Protection Force (AFPF), secured a bronze medal in the 49-55 kg weight category.

Her achievement further highlighted the growing recognition of the importance of physical fitness among forest staff.
