Hojai to host National Lok Adalat on Dec 14

HOJAI, Nov 4: As directed by the Assam State Legal Services Authority (ASLSA), the District Legal Services Authority, Hojai, is set to organise the National Lok Adalat at Sankardev Nagar in Hojai district on December 14, 2024, a press release stated here. According to the release, MACT, matrimonial, cheque bounce cases under the NI Act, MV cases, money recovery suits, labor disputes, PUS matters, criminal compoundable cases, and other civil cases will be addressed in the National Lok Adalat.

The release further mentioned that, as per instructions from the Assam State Legal Services Authority, Guwahati, pre-Lok Adalat sittings or pre-counseling sessions (either through video or teleconferencing or in-person with social distancing) may be conducted before the date of the National Lok Adalat, allowing parties one or more opportunities for negotiation/dialogue with opposing parties.

Notably, the DLSA, Hojai, has directed various banks (via the lead district bank manager), APDCL branches, BSNL, and insurance companies to conduct Lok Adalat sittings or pre-counseling sessions. The District Legal Services Authority, Hojai, has further appealed to the residents of Hojai district to fully cooperate in the National Lok Adalat.
