Haflong hosts Bhasha Gaurav Utsav

HAFLONG, Nov 4: Bhasha Gaurav Utsav took center stage at the District Library Auditorium, celebrating the recent recognition of Assamese as a classical language. The event was attended by esteemed guests, including literary awardee Anupama Naiding and various Sahitya Sabha members from the Dima Hasao district. It honoured Assam’s rich linguistic diversity and cultural heritage, marking a significant milestone in preserving and promoting local languages.

The celebration is a week-long program that started on Sunday, and will continue until November 9, 2024.

State minister of Power, Nandita Gorlosa, praised the various Sahitya Sabha organisations for their commendable efforts in promoting and uplifting the local language. The Dimasa language will be introduced in primary schools alongside other languages. The minister also requested the district commissioner to make necessary arrangements for deciphering the script inscribed on local relics.

The district commissioner emphasised that a local language embodies the identity of its community and urged everyone to recognise its importance.

The celebration was attended by state minister of Power Nandita Gorlosa, district commissioner Simanta Kumar Das, ACS, superintendent of police Mayank Kumar, IPS, and various officials.
