Chief electoral officer Anurag Goel reviews by-election preparations

NAGAON, Nov 5: The state’s chief electoral officer, Anurag Goel, arrived in Nagaon on Tuesday to review preparations for the upcoming by-election in the Samaguri assembly constituency. Goel, along with other officials, attended a meeting at the conference hall of the District Commissioner’s Office to discuss election preparations with officials from various electoral cells.

During the meeting, representatives from different cells shared their progress and perspectives. Election officer Shekharan Phukan also addressed the gathering and presented a detailed update through videography, emphasising the importance of a free, fair, and peaceful election.

Goel urged all present to work diligently and sincerely to ensure the successful conduct of the by-election. Additionally, he inspected the Strong Room and oversaw the EVM commissioning.

Other notable attendees included district commissioner and district election officer Narendra Kr Shah, district development commissioner and returning officer Gunajit Kashyap, chief executive officer of Nagaon Zila Parishad Ananta Kumar Gogoi, and district police superintendent Swapnanil Deka, according to an official press note issued here.

Our Biswanath Chariali correspondent adds: Anurag Goel, the chief electoral officer of state, visited Biswanath on Tuesday to review the ongoing progress and preparations for the upcoming Behali by-election, scheduled for November 13. He held a meeting with the district election officer, election cell officers, and other concerned officials in the conference hall of the District Commissioner’s Office.

He instructed that all vehicles carrying polling parties must be equipped with GPS tracking. He reviewed election-related preparations across relevant departments. The meeting was attended by Amit Khatry, election observer; Munindra Nath Nagatey, district commissioner and district election officer; Subhasish Baruah, SP, Biswanath; Dhrubajyoti Das, Rakesh Das, and Hriday Kumar Das, ADCs; Dhiman Hazarika, election officer; assistant commissioners, and other officials.
