Science kits distributed and exhibition held at Margherita College

MARGHERITA, Nov 11: The Interschool Science Exhibition and distribution of science and electricity kits under the ‘Jigyasa’ project were held on Monday at Margherita College.

The event was organised by the Office of the Co-District Commissioner (CDC) Margherita and the Office of the Block Elementary Education Officer (BEEO) Margherita, in collaboration with North Eastern Coalfields, Coal India Limited Margherita.

The ceremony commenced with the distribution of 77 science and electricity kits to 65 schools within the Margherita Education Block.

The kits were designed to enhance practical learning in science and empower teachers and students with better tools for conducting experiments.

A brief demonstration of the kits was provided by officials from the Margherita co-district administration, showcasing their usage.

A notable highlight of the event was the launch of a book on ‘Teaching Learning Materials’, prepared by the Margherita Education Block.

The book aims to support educators in developing effective teaching strategies with available resources.

An interactive session followed, including a discussion with Swapneel Paul (IAS), Tinsukia district commissioner; Prakshit Thoudam (IAS), Margherita co-district commissioner; and other distinguished officials.

The session provided an opportunity for teachers, cluster resource centre coordinators (CRCCs), and students to engage directly with the officials, sharing ideas and suggestions for improving education in the region.

The event was graced by several esteemed dignitaries, including Swapneel Paul (IAS), Tinsukia district commissioner; TC Ranjith Ram (IFS), divisional forest officer (DFO) Digboi Forest Division; Prakshit Thoudam (IAS), Margherita co-district commissioner; K Mere, general manager NEC CIL Margherita; Dr Atonu Kakoty, principal Margherita College; and the block elementary education officer (BEEO) Margherita.

Additionally, the event featured an Interschool Science Exhibition, with a total of 10 schools participating.

The competition showcased the creativity and scientific understanding of students from the region. The winners of the exhibition are as follows: First position, AR & T CO High School, Margherita; second position, Margherita Public Higher Secondary School; and third position, Ketetong Janajati HS, Margherita.

This initiative aims to foster scientific temper among students and equip them with the necessary skills for the future.
