Morigaon, Nov 13: The 35th All Assam Inter-District Women’s Kabaddi Championship, organised by the Morigaon District Kabaddi Association, recently concluded successfully. The tournament, which began on November 8, was held at Dalbari Playground in Morigaon. The final match featured a spirited competition between the women’s kabaddi teams from Kokrajhar and Goalpara districts, with Kokrajhar emerging as the champion.
The awards ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Morigaon MLA Ramakant Deuri, President of the Guwahati Kabaddi Association Alok Tripathi, President of the Morigaon District Kabaddi Association Ramen Nath, General Secretary Ramesh Kakati, President of the Morigaon District Journalists Association Birinchi Kumar Sharma, journalist Mridu Kalita, and President of the Dalbari Youth Welfare Association Rezamud Ahmed. The distinguished guests presented awards to the champions and runners-up.
In his address, former Assam Kabaddi Association Secretary Alok Tripathi highlighted the special initiatives taken by the state government and the Assam Kabaddi Association to promote kabaddi in Assam. He added that if approved, the Olympics could soon include kabaddi and other traditional Indian sports, reflecting the global recognition of India’s rich sports heritage.
