JORHAT, Nov 19: Chutia Yuba Sanmilon, Jorhat unit, in association with the Titabor unit, staged a protest in front of the Jorhat District Commissioner’s Office on Wednesday, demanding ST status. Hundreds of protesters shouted slogans and displayed placards and banners for two hours.
“We are demanding justice. The government has assured us many times to solve our demand, but it is still in vain,” said Shyamol Jyoti Bora, president of the Chutia Yuba Sanmilon Central Committee. “We have planned a series of protests across the state to push for our demand. Protests will continue until we reach our goal,” Bora added.
