GUWAHATI, Dec 15: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is working relentlessly around the clock to serve its customers and ensure the timely delivery of essential commodities to end users. NFR continues to make steady progress in freight loading, and during the month of November 2024, the railway registered 0.702 million tonnes of freight loading across various commodities.

During November 2024, the loading of certain commodities registered significant growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Cement loading increased by 280 percent, and container loading increased by 9.1 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. A growth of 306.7 percent in the loading of miscellaneous items was also registered compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.

The speedy execution of doubling and electrification works in important sections of NF Railway has led to increased inward and outward movement of freight traffic. This unprecedented loading accomplishment was made possible through simultaneous efforts to enhance capacity. This continuous growth in freight loading reflects the increasing economic activity in the region. The upward trend in freight operations has not only boosted the region’s economic dynamics but also generated significant revenue for NFR.
