DIMAPUR, Dec 28: NSCN-IM general secretary Th Muivah condoled the death of former PM of India Manmohan Singh on Saturday saying the Nagas have lost an important leader who was sincere in addressing their rights.
“Naga people have lost an important Indian leader who not only comprehended our history but was also sincere in addressing our rights,” Muivah said this while issuing a condolence message this evening.
Th Muivah then said that Manmohan Singh was a leader of great vision and integrity, instrumental in advancing the Indo-Naga peace talks. According to the NSCN-IM leader, under Manmohan Singh’s leadership, a team from his council of ministers was tasked with engaging the NSCN-IM leadership, reflecting his (Dr. Manmohan Singh) genuine commitment to resolving the Naga issue.
Muivah then recalled that, in the year 2010, he (Muivah) had the privilege of heading an NSCN-IM delegation to meet Manmohan Singh. “Aware of the complexities of the Naga political issue, he (Dr, Manmohan Singh) thoughtfully remarked, ‘The Naga political issue can be solved outside the box’, showcasing his profound understanding and willingness to explore innovative solutions”, Muivah also said.
The NSCN-IM leader then expressed, “I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family and the people of India. May his soul rest in eternal peace.” (NNN)
