Ex MCLA Makhan Swargiary joins UPPL

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 10: Former MCLA of Bodoland Territorial Council and senior BPF leader,Makhan Swargiary formally joined the ruling UPPL party at a party meeting held at the Belguri under Salbari subdivision in Baksa district on Monday.

Swargiary, represented the Mathanguri constituency twice from 2005 to 2015 in BTC Legislative Assembly.

He joined the UPPL party, along with more than 3000 supporters and well wishers in the presence of UPPL general secretary, Raju Kumar Narzary, vice president, Afjal Haque Sarkar, BTC executive members, Dhananjay Basumatary, Rakesh Brahma, ex Assam minister Chandan Brahma, ex BTC deputy chief, Kampa Borgoyary and several other senior party leaders.

With the joining of Swargiary and several party supporters, the opposition BPF party faced a jolt to its position as several senior party leaders had left the party.

Sources also claimed that the Mushalpur district committee, BPF president and ex-MLA Hitesh Basumatary is joining the UPPL party on February 14 in Mushalpur.

Notably, the ruling UPPL party is now gaining up its popularity among the common masses, and accordingly people cutting across the communities are coming forward to extend support to the UPPL party.

UPPL general secretary, Raju Kumar Narzary stated that UPPL party welcomed several new members, especially from BPF party, including ex MCLA Swargiary at Mathanguri constituency on Monday. He said that peoples have faith on UPPL party, and subsequently coming forward to join the party.

“Today, UPPL party has received a good response from the society as UPPL led BTR government is rendering relentless services towards the welfare and uplift of the citizens. We are committed to work for all round development of the peoples “, Narzary added.
