KOKRAJHAR, April 21: Noted educationist, writer and Sahitya Akademi Award winner, Lakshminath Brahma passed away at a private hospital in Bongaigaon on Monday.
According to family source, Brahma was suffering from age ailments for past few days, and undergoing treatment. He was admitted to Lower Assam Hospital, Bongaigaon for past few days and breathed his last on Monday afternoon about 3.20 pm.
Brahma, a resident of Harigaon Salakati, served as the former principal of Basugaon Higher Secondary School.
Lakshminath Brahma won the Sahitya Akademi’s Bal Sahitya Puraskar in 2019 for his children book ‘Solobatha Khwnasong De (Folk Tales)’
He was the former president of the Kokrajhar District Bodo Sahitya Sabha and played a key role in promoting literary activities in the region.
His lifeless both was taken to his Harigaon Salakati residence in the evening. He was about 72.
Brahma was associated with many social organisations, and life member of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha. He authored many books and edited several souvenir in his days, and contributed endless towards the uplift and development of the Bodo literary world.
Various organisations and individuals have extended their deep condolences and mourning on the demise of Lakshminath Brahma.
Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, Bodo Sahitya Sabha president Dr Surath Narzary, ABSU president Dipen Boro have expressed their condolences and deep mourning on the demise of Brahma.
CEM Boro said he was deeply saddened to hear the passing away of Brahma, who dedicated and contributed a lot to the uplift of the Bodo literary world. He said that the Bodo literary as well community loss a great social worker and author with the demise of Brahma.
