DONGKAMUKAM, May 28: Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), on Wednesday said that it is the responsibility of the government to carry out development activities in Karbi Anglong.
He was speaking during a mass joining programme held at Hongkram Mini Stadium in West Karbi Anglong.

“It is the responsibility of the government to carry development activities to every nook and corner of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong. I assure that the Rongkhang Member of Autonomous Council constituency will not be left behind,” he added.
Reiterating his stance on the demand for an Autonomous State under Article 244(A) of the Constitution, Ronghang emphasised that while it remains a key issue, no lives should be lost, nor should violence be resorted to, as had occurred during previous phases of the movement.
Responding to a memorandum submitted by residents of the Rongkhang constituency, the CEM assured that the demands would be fulfilled within the next year. Highlighting the BJP’s development agenda, he pointed to the sanctioning of multi-crore road projects such as Jagiroad to Baithalangso and the Dongkamukam–Kheroni–Haflong road, which are expected to significantly improve connectivity in the region.
The memorandum includes demands for the completion of a mini stadium at Hongkram, improved road connectivity for Hongkram, construction of a zonal office building for the Rongkhang Karbi Cultural Society along with land allocation, and the provision of potable drinking water and electricity.
Earlier in the day, more than 1,000 opposition workers from the Congress, Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC), and All Party Hills Leaders Conference (APHLC) formally joined the BJP.
