JORHAT, June 11: The latest version of the iconic Assamese song ‘Mon Hira Doi’ from the newly released movie ‘Bhaimonda’ was formally launched at a brief ceremony held at a hotel here on Tuesday night.
The beloved track, which originally featured in the classic Assamese film ‘Bowari’, rose to immense popularity decades ago with veteran actor late Biju Phukan performing the song onscreen. The reimagined version has now been included in ‘Bhaimonda’, a biographical film based on the life of the late Munin Barua, a revered figure in the Assamese film industry.
Munin Barua had penned the script of ‘Bowari’, which became a blockbuster hit upon its release, setting the stage for many more successful films from the renowned filmmaker in the years that followed.
In the biopic, ‘Mon Hira Doi’ appears as the fourth track and has stirred a wave of nostalgia among those who fondly remember the original movie.
The new rendition of the song has been sung by Montumoni Saikia, with music rearranged by Poran Borkatoky (Jojo). The launch event witnessed the presence of the film’s director Sasank Samir, producer Shyamantak Gautam, associate director Arindom Kashyap, executive producer Anupam Sarmah, and cast members Bondip Sarma, Nilim Dutta, and Tarun Parikhit, among others.
