NFR announces permanent augmentation of three trains

GUWAHATI, June 22: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced the permanent augmentation of three key train services and the extension of a temporary augmentation in another, effective from July 1, 2025.

The information was shared through an official statement issued by NFR on Sunday.

As part of the initiative to enhance passenger experience and meet growing demand, Train No. 12042/12041 New Jalpaiguri–Howrah–New Jalpaiguri (Shatabdi Express), operating six days a week, will be permanently augmented with one Vistadome coach.

The train will now run with a total of 15 coaches, with the revised composition taking effect from both New Jalpaiguri and Howrah from July 1.

Train No. 12067/12068 Guwahati–Jorhat Town–Guwahati (Jan Shatabdi Express), which also runs six days a week, will similarly be augmented with a Vistadome coach, increasing the total number of coaches to 16.

This change will be effective from Guwahati and Jorhat Town from July 1.

In another development, Train No. 15417/15418 Alipurduar–Silghat Town–Alipurduar (Rajya Rani Express), running tri-weekly, will be permanently augmented with one additional AC 3-tier coach.

The revised 12-coach composition will come into effect from Alipurduar on July 1 and from Silghat Town on July 2.

Additionally, the temporary augmentation of Train No. 15713/15714 Katihar–Patna–Katihar (Intercity Express) with one AC 3-tier economy coach has been extended for another year.

The coach will be available on nominated days from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.

NFR stated that the inclusion of Vistadome coaches is aimed at offering passengers an immersive travel experience, especially along scenic routes.

The measures reflect NFR’s continued efforts to improve capacity, comfort, and overall service quality across its network.
