GUWAHATI, July 4: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate Bodoland Speaks: From Vision to Action, a flagship event being organised by the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) to showcase the region’s transformative journey, achievements, and aspirations.
The event is scheduled to take place on July 6, 2025, at the Srimanta Sankaradeva International Auditorium in Guwahati.
According to an official statement, the programme will be held in the presence of BTC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro and other dignitaries.
It is aimed at presenting the evolution of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) — from a history of conflict to one of collaboration, and from isolation to inclusion — through narratives of culture, language, governance, and grassroots participation.
One of the key highlights of the event will be the ceremonial release of several publications that reflect on the region’s recent progress.
These include Transforming Bodoland – A Journey of Change in BTR, Lookin’ Within: My Reflections, authored by CEM Pramod Boro, and the Annual Report of the Bodoland Happiness Mission (2024–25).
In addition, the event will witness the release of BTR Communication Bridge, a 600-page multilingual resource featuring 1,001 essential words and 1,001 daily-use sentences translated into 18 regional languages spoken across BTR.
These include Bodo, Assamese, Rabha, Kurukh, Sadhri, Nepali, Deshi, and others, reflecting the rich linguistic diversity of the region’s 26 communities.
The programme will also mark the launch of two key initiatives — the Bodoland Engaged Ethnography Initiative and the Bodoland Migrant Women Livelihood Support Programme — both aimed at fostering inclusive development and cultural documentation.
Further, the Bodoland Lifetime Achievers Award – Folk Cultures 2025 will be conferred during the event, honouring individuals who have contributed to preserving and promoting the region’s folk traditions.
The event will also feature interactions with literary organisations and community leaders.
Described as a day-long celebration of knowledge, heritage, and collective progress, Bodoland Speaks seeks to position BTR as a model for inclusive growth and cultural revival in the region.
