KOKRAJHAR, July 5: In a determined effort to raise public awareness against substance abuse, a bike rally was organised on Saturday at Kajalgaon in Chirang district as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
The event was led by the District Social Welfare Office in collaboration with the Chirang district police.
The rally was officially flagged off by Chirang Deputy Commissioner Jatin Bora and aimed at sensitising the public—especially the youth—about the ill effects of drug abuse and the importance of adopting a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.
The flag-off ceremony witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Additional Superintendent of Police Rashmi Rekha Sarmah, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ritambara Nath, District Social Welfare Officer Anupam Das, and other senior officials from various district departments.
The rally saw enthusiastic participation from youth volunteers, social activists, and police personnel, all united in their commitment to fostering a drug-free and health-conscious society.
Local residents expressed appreciation for the initiative, thanking the district administration for taking active steps to address the growing concern of substance abuse in the region.
Many reiterated their desire for a healthier social environment, particularly for the younger generation.
Officials noted that the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan continues to be implemented across Chirang district with active public participation and support from multiple stakeholders.
