KOKRAJHAR, July 8: A seven-member delegation of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Assam Legislative Assembly, led by Chairman Nurul Huda, visited Chirang district on Tuesday to review the implementation and progress of various state government development projects.
The team included legislators Ramendra Narayan Kalita, Bhabendra Nath Bharali, Utpal Bora, Karim Uddin Borbhuiya, Hafiz Bashir Ahmed, and Abdur Rashid Mandal.
As part of their visit, the PAC members conducted a series of field inspections to assess the quality, execution, and timely progress of multiple infrastructure and welfare projects.
Among the key sites visited were Kajalgaon Stadium, the Tribal Guest House, the under-construction Sidli-Kashikotra Higher Secondary School, and flood protection works along the Right Bank of the River Aie, benefiting villages such as Durgapur, Birengaon, and Dangaigaon.
The team also inspected the irrigation canal with a slab culvert at Anthaibari Muslimbosti under the MGNREGA scheme and reviewed work at Champabati Mahal No 2, among other locations under various government schemes.
According to an official statement, the committee focused on verifying construction quality, utilisation of public funds, and overall adherence to project objectives.
The PAC reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficient use of government resources.
Following the site visits, the delegation held a review meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall in Kajalgaon, engaging with senior district officials and project stakeholders on progress reports and implementation challenges.
Present at the meeting were Chirang Deputy Commissioner Jatin Bora, Additional Secretaries Sushama Hazarika and Arup Kumar Sarma, Joint Secretary Deergha Baruah, Under Secretary Fakhar Uddin Chowdhury, and other senior administrative and departmental officers.
