KHERONI, July 18: In a major step towards ensuring timely medical care for road accident victims, the Government of Assam has launched the “Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme-2025,” in line with the guidelines of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
The scheme provides cashless treatment of up to ₹1.5 lakh per victim for the first seven days following a motor vehicle accident.

According to a government notification dated June 14, 2025, all Deputy Commissioners have been directed to implement the scheme in their respective districts.
They have also been instructed to integrate the Transaction Management System (TMS) and Public Financial Management System (PFMS), open dedicated bank accounts with the Reserve Bank of India, and submit necessary data in the prescribed format on a priority basis.
The scheme is supported by the e-Detailed Accident Report (e-DAR), a digital platform developed by MoRTH under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), to streamline implementation.
District Road Safety Committees (DRSCs) have been directed to appoint District Grievance Redressal Officers (DGROs) and publicise their contact details widely to assist victims, Good Samaritans, and hospitals.
The Government of Assam has underscored the urgency of the initiative and called for full cooperation to ensure its effective implementation.
