3028 landless forest dwellers receive land titles in Chirang under FRA 2006

KOKRAJHAR, July 21: A total of 3,028 landless forest dwellers were provided with land entitlement certificates under the Forest Rights Act, 2006, in a ceremonial distribution programme held at Koilamoila under Nichima constituency in Chirang district of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

The event was organised by the Department of Land and Revenue, Government of BTR.

Executive Member of BTR Ranjit Basumatary, Sidli MLA Nirmal Kumar Brahma, and other dignitaries were present at the occasion and handed over the certificates to the beneficiaries.

The BTR administration under the leadership of Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro has so far resolved over three lakh land-related cases since assuming office.

Thousands of people across communities have received land entitlement certificates as part of this ongoing initiative.

Speaking at the event, EM Basumatary reiterated the commitment of the Land and Revenue Department to provide land pattas to landless individuals across the region.

CEM Pramod Boro said the distribution of 3,028 land titles in the 16 No Nichima constituency marked a significant milestone under Mission Bwiswmuthi to ensure land security for the landless.

“I’m delighted to extend heartfelt congratulations to all the beneficiaries and to our Land & Revenue Department for driving this transformative effort with dedication and purpose,” he added.
