BISWANATH CHARIALI, July 26: A new building of Alok Kalabithika, the school of fine arts under the aegis of Alok—a socio-cultural, literary and dramatic organisation of greater Nagsankar—was inaugurated by Naduar MLA Padma Hazarika recently.
The inaugural programme was held at the school’s newly constructed conference hall.

The event began with a Borgeet performance by Itali Kalita, followed by a welcome address from Putul Bora, Principal of Alok Kalabithika.
In his inaugural remarks, MLA Hazarika highlighted the significance of creative pursuits in fostering social harmony and peace.
The Alok fraternity felicitated several newly elected panchayat representatives including Lakhi Kanta Bora, president of Madhya Nagsankar GP; Hitesh Barua, ZPC member; Baby Rajbangshi, AP member; Uday Shankar Saikia, president of No. 3 Sootea GP; Bharati Das, president of Sootea Anchalik Panchayat; retired teacher and artist Dulu Gogoi; Dipshikha Handique, chairman of Sootea Town Committee; Nirmali Saikia; Baneswar Bora; and Anjan Baskota.
ZPC member Hitesh Barua also addressed the gathering.
Appointment letters were handed over to newly appointed teachers by the MLA.
The programme was anchored by Alok President Padmeswar Saikia, while Secretary Biman Saikia delivered the vote of thanks.
Founded in 1987, Alok is one of the premier socio-cultural organisations of the region.
Alok Kalabithika was established in 2010 and functioned from Nagsankar HS School premises until it was relocated to its new permanent campus.
As part of the day’s events, a new Yoga centre was also inaugurated by MLA Hazarika.
