TEZPUR, Aug 3: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Assam Legislative Assembly held a review meeting on Saturday to assess the progress and implementation of government schemes in Sonitpur district.
The meeting, held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, was chaired by PAC chairman and Rupahihat MLA Nurul Huda.
Committee members including MLAs Ramendra Narayan Kalita, Bhabendra Nath Bharali, Utpal Bora, Karim Uddin Barbhuiya, Hafiz Bashir Ahmed and Abdur Rashid Mandal attended the meeting along with local Tezpur MLA Prithiraj Rava.
Deputy Commissioner Ananda Kumar Das and senior officials from various departments were present.
The PAC reviewed the work status of schemes under Agriculture, Education, Excise, Forest, Food & Civil Supplies, Fishery, Health & Family Welfare, Irrigation, PWD (Roads and Buildings), Public Health Engineering, Panchayat & Rural Development, Social Welfare, Soil Conservation and Water Resources across different sub-divisions of Sonitpur.
Ahead of the review, members conducted field inspections at project sites to gain first-hand information on the execution and quality of works undertaken under various government programmes.
