MARGHERITA, Aug 13: The Margherita Municipal Board organised a special cleanliness drive from August 2 to 15 in preparation for the 79th Independence Day celebrations and the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Swachhata’ campaign.
The drive covered the entire Margherita Municipal Board area and 13 gaon panchayats under the 83rd Margherita LAC, focusing on Swahid Bedis and martyrs’ memorials.

Sharma said the initiative was aimed at paying tribute to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence and to instil in future generations the values of patriotism, devotion and dedication to the nation.
Quoting the adage “Cleanliness is next to Godliness,” he said keeping Swahid Bedis and martyrs’ memorials clean would make citizens proud, responsible and patriotic.
