DIPHU, Aug 18: The Jal Jivan Mission Contractor Association PHE Department (JJMCAPHED) of Karbi Anglong, supported by the All Assam Public Health Technical Contractors Association and the All Assam PHED Contractors Association, will hold a two-hour sit-in-demonstration in front of the office of the Executive Engineer, PHE, Diphu Rural Water Supply Division, on August 20 to press their demands before the department and the Government of Assam.
The demonstration will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Informing the media, JJMCAPHED Karbi Anglong district president Raj Engleng said that the PHE department has been withholding bills against JJM works already executed by contractors.
To pressurise the concerned department and the state government to meet the association’s demands, the sit-in-demonstration has been organised.
The demands include immediate clearance of pending bill payments to all Jal Jeevan Mission contractors, withdrawal of new SOPs for JJM works, resolution of the issue of withheld bills on the ground of Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) through discussion with the director of management, and release of the unpaid 6% GST component.
The association has urged all JJM contractors under Diphu Rural Division, Howraghat, Hamren and Ulukunchi divisions of the PHE department to participate in the demonstration.
