JORHAT, Sept 18: An Innovation Experience Centre at NEATEHUB (North East Agriculture Technology Entrepreneurs’ Hub), an Atal Incubation Centre (AIC) and agri-business incubator under Assam Agricultural University (AAU), was inaugurated today by vice-chancellor Dr Bidyut Chandan Deka.
The launch coincided with NEATEHUB’s 6th Foundation Day celebrations.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Deka highlighted NEATEHUB’s critical role in reshaping the entrepreneurial landscape of Northeast India.
“This incubator is a launchpad for students and aspiring innovators in agriculture and allied sectors. By translating research into viable businesses, NEATEHUB contributes directly to economic growth and sustainable development in the region,” he said.
The permanent experience centre will showcase cutting-edge products and innovations developed by NEATEHUB incubatees, providing startups a platform to display market-ready solutions to investors, industry partners, farmers, and the academic community.
The inaugural exhibits feature products from startups including KraftInn, Riftak, and Aiseng Winery.
The initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic innovation and market commercialisation, offering visibility to grassroots agripreneurs.
Bidyut Bikash Rajkonwar, chief operating officer of NEATEHUB, expressed gratitude to AAU administration and former NEATEHUB team led by Dr Karthikeyen K for building the agri-entrepreneurship ecosystem in Assam and the Northeast, reaffirming the hub’s commitment to nurturing future agricultural entrepreneurs.
NEATEHUB’s mission is to identify, mentor, and scale innovative startups in agriculture and allied sectors.
Incubatees benefit from mentorship, seed funding, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and networking opportunities to convert innovative ideas into successful, sustainable enterprises that bolster the region’s agro-economy.
The inauguration was attended by senior AAU officials, including registrar Tapan Kumar Gohain, comptroller Keshab Sharma, directors Dr Sanjay Kumar Chetia and Dr Manoranjan Neog, dean Dr Mamoni Das, and ex-director of Research Dr GN Hazarika, along with heads of departments, NEATEHUB directors, and representatives from RKVY-incubated startups such as KraftInn, Riftak Industries LLP, and Madhuri Food Products.
