The event, inaugurated by Brig Prashant Chauhan, SM, as the chief guest, aligns with the Government of India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and aims to nurture problem-solving, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit among NCC cadets as part of the broader goal of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Expressing gratitude to Prof Mohan V Aware, director of NIT Jote, for extending institutional support and infrastructure, Col Samudra Vijay Sarma, Commanding Officer of 1 AP Battalion NCC, said the collaboration with NIT has provided the ideal environment for young cadets to explore innovation through a structured and competitive platform.

He also acknowledged the contributions of Capt. Dr Achyuth Sarkar (Assistant Professor, CSE Dept., NIT Arunachal Pradesh), Lt Dr Preetisudha Meher (Head, ECE Dept., NIT Arunachal Pradesh), and CTO Aswini Kumar Patra (Assistant Professor, CSE Dept., NERIST) for their invaluable role in organising and coordinating the event.

The competition has drawn 84 participants from nine Group Headquarters across the Northeast Region under NCC Directorate NER.

It provides cadets with an opportunity to present their innovative ideas and compete for recognition at the national level, where selected entries will be showcased in January next year.

The Idea & Innovation Competition is divided into three categories — Labs to Market, Ideas for Social Uplift, and Innovation for Sustainability.

Each theme focuses on transforming academic concepts into market-ready solutions, proposing inclusive and scalable ideas for societal progress, and promoting sustainable and green technologies.

The initiative also emphasizes the active engagement of cadets in community implementation through awareness drives and volunteer-based activities.

In addition to the main competition, the event features an Innovation Quiz and an Extempore Speech Competition, designed to help cadets develop quick thinking, clarity of expression, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations with confidence — qualities vital for future leadership roles.

Describing the event as an investment in the nation’s future, Col Sarma said, “The Idea & Innovation Competition is not merely an event but a movement to empower young minds to think, create, and contribute meaningfully to nation-building. By embracing innovation and critical thinking, our cadets are being shaped into agents of positive change who will help build a stronger, self-reliant India.”

The competition, blending innovation with patriotism and teamwork, embodies NCC’s mission of holistic development and reflects its unwavering commitment to nurturing responsible, skilled, and visionary youth ready to lead the country toward a sustainable and prosperous future.
