DONGKAMUKAM, Oct 16: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), chief executive member, (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang launched “Purthimi Akemang 2.0” 2025, and ceremoniously distributed free land pattas to the indigenous communities in his home constituency Bithung Rengthama Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) on Thursday at Menmiji Sports Complex, West Karbi Anglong.

The programme was organised by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Land & Revenue Department.

Before the distribution of the land pattas, Karbi traditional dignitaries Umaha Longri Habe, Im Bey and Nokbari Habe, Longsing Tokbi also sought blessings from the Almighty for the CEM, who is stepping into the 13th year in his office.

In the ceremony six thousand land pattas were given away to indigenous residents. This will be done in the other 25 remaining MAC constituencies by January 30 next year.

Speaking on the occasion, the CEM said, “As per the Forest Right Act 2006 the forest dwellers like Hills Tribes are given land pattas.”

“A few Opposition leaders are running a propaganda stating that the pattas are fake,” he said, adding “If so, then all the officers will go to jail.”

 Regarding the inter-state border problem between Assam and Meghalaya he firmly said that not an inch of land will be given away or taken from others.

Amar Sing Tisso, MP, informed that till now seven lakh pattas were given.

In the same gathering the CEM Ronghang distributed scooters under Sakhi Express SOPD SCHEME F.Y. 2025-26 of Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission under Panchayat and Rural Development, KAAC.

Those who got PhD degree and cracked NEET were felicitated by the KAAC chief.

MLAs Darsing Ronghang and Rupsing Teron; chairman of KAAC, Raju Tisso; deputy chair, Abhijit Kro; Karbi King Longsing Ronghang and others attended the event.
