The testing shall include essential physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters as prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for drinking water.
The PHED, Jorhat, has been instructed to facilitate timely testing services and maintain a centralised record of all reports.
The order warned that non-compliance would attract action under the provisions of the Public Health Act, the Food Safety and Standards Act, and other applicable laws.
It stated that the directive aims to safeguard public health and ensure access to safe and potable drinking water for all consumers in Jorhat district.
