UPPL’s BTR motorcycle rally begins at Kazigaon

Aims to promote peaceful and ethical society in BTR

KOKRAJHAR, NOV 02: A six-day BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region) Motorcycle Rally began from Kazigaon, Parbotjhora in Kokrajhar district on Saturday.

Hundreds of bike riders from different parts of BTR districts participated the event which was organised by United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) to promote peaceful and ethical society amongst the citizens, reorganizing and strengthening the party ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections across the region.The rally will be concluded on November 6 at Gohpur which is touching entire areas of Bodoland Territorial Region.

UPPL president and former CEM of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro flagged off the rally in the presence of leaders and workers of the parry.The rally is led by UPPL general secretary Raju Kumar Narzary.

On the first day of the rally,the team members of the rally, arrived at Mornai tea estate via Monglajhoa,Bashbari.Later, the team reached and night halt at Kaliphukri near Salakati following meeting held at Chakma and Banargaon community hall.
During the rally,the UPPL leaders and workers paid floral tributes to Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma at Kazigaon Gurudham, Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, father of Bodos at Dotma Thulungapuri and Swahid Lafikul Islam Ahmed,former ABMSJ president at the Lafikul Islam Ahmed tomb at Salakati.

Party leaders and workers have accorded warm welcome and felicitation to the rally team at Mornai Tea Estate, Gossaigaon, Dotma, Banargaon and Salakati.

An interactive session with local intellectuals of greater Salakati area representing different communities in the presence of party leaders,Kokrajhar MLA Lawrence Islary.

UPPL general secretary, Raju Kumar Narzary told that the rally is being organised to promote resurgent of UPPL party, resurgent of BTR in the entire Bodoland region.He said that the rally received a good response from the people cutting across the communities.

Inaugurating the rally, UPPL president Promod Boro said that the purpose of the motorcycle journey is to make the UPPL stronger ahead of the forthcoming Assembly election and to exchange views with the public. He expressed concern over the recent bomb blast incident in Boroland, the re-emergence of syndicate culture, and the growing prevalence of liquor, gambling, and drugs under the pretext of festivals and fairs — which have become a social threat.

He stated that in such a situation, as a responsible political party, the UPPL has organized this motorcycle rally to raise awareness among the people of BTR. The rally will also advocate for the 100% implementation of the BTR Accord, the passage of the 125th Constitutional Amendment Bill, the increase of BTC constituencies from 40 to 60, justice for artist Zubeen Garg, and the promotion of unity and development among the 26 indigenous communities residing in BTR.

Speaking to the media, Boro reiterated that the UPPL will take part in the 2026 Assembly election as a strong political force. He further clarified that the party has not yet made any decision regarding its alliance with the NDA.

Regarding justice for the music icon late artist Zubeen Garg, Promod Boro said, “Justice must be delivered for Zubeen Garg’s death. We must always keep alive the creations of Assam’s beloved artist Zubeen Garg. His contribution is deeply felt by every community, and the unity of all Assamese people in seeking justice for him marks a historic moment.”
He added that Zubeen Garg will remain immortal in the hearts of the people of Assam and humanity as a whole.

Responding to recent remarks made by BTC Chief Executive Member, Hagrama Mohilary regarding the implementation of the BTR Accord, Promod Boro said, “Hagrama Mohilary’s comments reflect irresponsibility. Making baseless statements about the UPPL is part of his character, and such remarks bring no benefit to our society.”

It is noteworthy that before launching the rally in Kajigaon, the birthplace of Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma, UPPL leaders offered prayers and blessings at the Gurudev’s shrine. The rally, titled “Well-organized UPPL for a Prosperous BTR,” was led by the party’s general secretary Raju Kumar Narzary, with around 100 motorcyclists participating.
