Lakhimpur, Nov 04: Lakhimpur Police came up with an unusual idea on Sunday to deal with two-wheeler riders caught without helmets. During a drive across the town, police seized around 70 motorbikes and scooters from those flouting the rule.

When the riders came to collect their vehicles, they were asked to do something different — write a short essay of about 150 words on traffic rules and the importance of wearing helmets. The police made them sit inside the station and write before handing over their vehicles.

After the writing task, fines were collected from the offenders, and their bikes were returned.

The move, though unconventional, grabbed local attention for its mix of discipline and mild embarrassment, making the lesson harder to forget for the helmetless riders of Lakhimpur.
