DIPHU, April 1: Karbi Anglong district transport department has witnessed a massive hike in total revenue collection with Rs. 17,29,40,174 collected between April 2021 to March 2022 as against Rs 14 crore target set by the state government.
Informing this, the in-charge DTO, Bikram Aditya Gogoi said, “The Government had given us a target of Rs 14 crore revenue to be collected in the financial year between April 2021 to March 2022 and we managed to collect revenue of Rs 17,29,40,174, which exceeded Rs 3,29,40,174 from the target.”
The DTO informed that in Commercial Tax (Com. Tax) the department has collected Rs 5,19,30,070; in Private Tax (Pvt. Tax) it has collected a revenue of Rs 4,93,16,669; in Assam Permit & Good Tax (APGT) it has collected a revenue of Rs 9,58,008 and in fees collected the revenue is Rs 2,55,44,979.
From fines, the department has collected a revenue of Rs 2,90,99,080; in Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC), the department has collected a revenue of Rs 3,05,500; in High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP), the department has collected a revenue of Rs 1,313, in Road/Safety Cess (R/S Cess) the department has collected a revenue of Rs 5,72,787, in permit the department has collected a revenue of Rs 8,48,900 and in arrears the department has collected a revenue of Rs 1,43,62,868.
Gogoi said that in 2021, the total road accident cases were 139, out of which fatalities were 97 and injuries 77. During the three months of January, February and March 2022, the total number of road accident cases was 18, out of which fatalities were 11 and injuries 15.
He also informed that cases registered for not wearing a helmet while driving two-wheelers were 1,228, for not wearing seat belts were 400 and failed registration 63 cases.
The DTO also appealed to the general public driving two, three and four-wheelers to strictly follow the traffic rules and drive carefully in order to avoid accidents. One should not consume alcohol and attend to mobile phones while driving as it might invite accidents, Gogai said.
He also said children of 16 years of age and below are not allowed to drive and urged parents concerned not to allow their children to drive as there will be a penalty on both the parent and the child.
