JORHAT, Nov 5: The MIRAI Japanese Language Learning Programme under the Chief Minister’s FLIGHT (Foreign Language Initiative for Global Human Talent) scheme has commenced at Assam Women’s University (AWU).
Conducted in hybrid mode between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., the programme aims to equip Assam’s youth with Japanese language and cultural skills, enhancing their global employability and intercultural competence.
The inaugural session, held on Monday, was graced by Vice Chancellor Professor Ajanta Borgohain Rajkonwar, who formally inaugurated the classes. Registrar Tapan Gohain and Controller of Examinations Dr Nayan Kamal Bhattacharyya were also present.
The training programme is being implemented under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on May 27, 2024, between AWU and the Mirai Japanese Learning Centre (a unit of SkyVision Guide Pvt. Ltd.), Guwahati.
Under the MoU, AWU will serve as a training centre, providing infrastructure, coordination, and support for mobilizing candidates from various educational institutions, while Mirai JLC will offer Japanese language training from JLPT N5 to N4 levels, organise placement interviews, and facilitate visa and employment arrangements in Japan under the Technical Intern Training Programme (TITP) and Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) schemes.
Speaking at the inauguration, Professor Rajkonwar said that learning foreign languages opens global avenues for the youth of Assam and aligns with the Government’s vision of building globally competent professionals.
Registrar Tapan Gohain described the collaboration between AWU and Mirai JLC as a major step toward international skill development.
