GUWAHATI, Nov 17: The redevelopment of Kamakhyaguri Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) is now nearing completion, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) announced on Monday.
The station has undergone major upgrades, including a new station building with an improved entrance lobby and circulating area, renovated platforms with Kota-stone surfacing, modern signage and a 12-meter wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) with lift facilities. Passenger amenities such as new waiting halls, enhanced toilet blocks, expanded parking and multi-theme lighting have also been added. The station’s surroundings have been beautified with local art and cultural elements, creating a modern, accessible and aesthetically enriched environment.
Under ABSS, 92 stations across Northeast Frontier Railway are being redeveloped in phases—50 in Assam, 23 in West Bengal, 9 in Bihar, 4 in Tripura and 6 in other Northeastern states. Upgrades include enhanced passenger amenities, improved accessibility, revamped circulating areas, modern station façades and multimodal integration, aiming to provide safe, convenient and future-ready infrastructure.
NFR reaffirmed its commitment to delivering world-class facilities and modern travel experiences to passengers in Northeast India and adjoining states, with the ongoing transformations marking a significant step toward cleaner, safer, and more efficient railway stations in line with the national vision for a modernized railway network.
