NFR GM inspects redeveloped Kamakhyaguri station

GUWAHATI, Nov 20: Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), conducted a thorough inspection of the redeveloped Kamakhyaguri and New Coochbehar Railway Stations in West Bengal on Wednesday. He was accompanied by Divisional Railway Manager Devendra Singh and senior officials from NFR Headquarters and the Alipurduar Division.

At Kamakhyaguri, the GM inspected all three platforms, the 12-metre wide foot overbridge, lifts, circulating areas, waiting halls, lounges, parking area, Station Master’s room and ticket counters. The review focused on passenger amenities, safety measures, cleanliness and overall upkeep of station assets. He also held a meeting with representatives of the local MP, MLA, business organisations, public interest groups and interacted with the media.

At New Coochbehar station, the GM reviewed operational and passenger facilities including the Station Superintendent and Station Master’s panels, combined crew lobby, crew running room, waiting halls, retiring room, dormitory and the station’s circulating area. The inspection aimed to ensure that passenger-centric infrastructure is maintained efficiently and in line with operational requirements. The inspection across both stations is part of NFR’s efforts to strengthen service delivery, improve operational efficiency and enhance the travel experience for passengers. The redevelopment of Kamakhyaguri station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) underscores Indian Railways’ commitment to modern infrastructure and improved passenger amenities.
